ONI (Temporary) is a 3D action game based on the popular Japanese folklore Momotarō developed by KENEI DESIGN (Twitter: @DeisgnKenei) and issued by Clouded Leopard Entertainment, which has also issued famous RPGs like Akiba's Trip and The Legend of Heroes: Trails into Reverie. ONI is scheduled to be released in 2022 in Asia, North America and Europe. While the game has Japanese dub only, subtitles of five different languages are available, including Japanese, English, Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese and Korean. The operating platform and price of the game are still unknown at the moment.
The development of ONI is aided by the "Shueisha Game Creators CAMP". The development team KENEI DESIGN is lead by Kenei Hayama, who is responsible for the art design of mobile games like TERRA BATTLE and FANTASIAN when is working at Hironobu Sakaguchi's game studio "Mistwalker". The producer of ONI, Masami Yamamoto (who is also the executive advisor of Shueisha Game Creators CAMP), has participated in the production of games like No Heroes Allowed: No Puzzles and TOKYO JUNGLE.
Despite the Momotarō theme, the protagonist of ONI is not Momotarō. On the contrary, the main character, Sorata, is an oni (Japanese demon), who was defeated by Momotarō. He then travelled to an island and met a friend called "Kazemaru", who has the same goal as Sorata, to take revenge on "the oni of human beings", Momotarō. This is a tale between humans and oni, and also the sky and the wind.
