Yakuza Online es una continuación de la popular serie Yakuza (龍 が 如 く). El juego gira en torno a un nuevo personaje, Ichiban Kasuga (春日 一番).
Además de ser solo una continuación del primer juego, el juego presenta el elenco de voces original para los personajes del juego original. Todos los elementos del infra-mundo, incluidas las peleas, el dinero y las chicas, están presentes en este nuevo juego.
