The step limit is absolutely brutal, and I got the worst ending at least 5 times before figuring things out.
Because the entirety of the game is one big puzzle, I do not recommend seeking a whole walkthrough until you get at least an ending that isn't the worst one. The official website has some spoiler-free hints if you still want some pointers.
