Pokémon Legends: Arceus is an RPG developed by GAME FREAK and published by The Pokémon Company and Nintendo. The game supports multiple languages and will be released on Nintendo Switch worldwide on the 28th of January, 2022.
Pokémon Legends: Arceus is set a long time ago in the Hisui region, which is a vast area with a beautiful natural environment. The region is later known as the Sinnoh region, the main stage of the Pokémon Diamond and Pearl game, as well as their remakes, Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. Hence, these games share some parts of the settings in relation to their characters and in-game locations. In this game, players will play as one of the two protagonists of the game, Akari and Rei, who will join the Galaxy team as a member of the Survey Corps. The main mission is to research every pokémon in the region and complete the first-ever regional Pokédex. While doing so, players may run into something called the "Frenzied Noble Pokémon", which are powerful Pokémon that await players' challenge!
Unlike other main series games that are set in their own region, this time the game introduces no new starter pokémon. The starting trio that players can pick at the start is Rowlet, Cyndaquil, and Oshawott from the past generations. Nonetheless, new evolutions and regional forms can be found in the Hisui Region. At the moment, the new pokémon revealed are Wyrdeer, Basculegion, Kleavor, Hisuian Zorua, Hisuian Zoroark, Hisuian Braviary, Hisuian Growlithe, and Hisuian Voltorb. Also, as the name of the game suggests, the story of Pokémon Legends: Arceus is heavily linked to the mythical Pokémon, Arceus. Arceus is the pokémon that is said to create the Hisui region, and possibly the entire Pokémon world. It seems that the legendary Arceus will play a pivotal role in players' journey in the Hisui region this time.
The gameplay of Pokémon Legends: Arceus also adds some new elements. Apart from the classic Pokémon battle, players can control the characters to run, jump and dodge in the midst of a battle like an action game. From the trailer, it is also revealed that players need to aim and throw pokémon to capture new Pokémon. These revolutionary changes to the classic Pokémon game are definitely ones to watch.
