DRAGON QUEST OF THE STARS | Global Notes

Nostalgic is the right word
As a kid many years ago I played dragon warrior 1 and 2 on the gbc and it was a very interesting journey, that later on embarked me to play all the way to dragon quest 8. I liked the old school jrpg feel to the series, and dragon quest of the stars didn't disappoint.
STORY 3/5
I like short and simple dialogues in my stories when to came to games like these. Straight to the point of going to point A to point B. The game has not much story to dive players in, but if you are okay with the simplistic idea of 'lets find the boss' or 'lets find an item' type of story progression then you'll survive this one.
MUSIC 4/5
I'm going to be biased on this one and give it an above rating here. My reason? Nostalgia. If you are a DQ fan then you will very much hear music in this game that will either make you feel old or that you are reentering that journey that brings back good memories and that is what the game's ost actually does. Definitely a never tiring music choice for DQ veterans, but for casual players? Maybe it might be quite different.
GAMEPLAY 3/5
There are two modes which are single and multiplayer. You start off with 3 characters and you can bring a friend to join you or you can bring one of your characters and join 3 other players into battle. It is a very unique battle system where it makes you strategize in tough battles rather than randomly press one part of your screen. Multiplayer would be the best since you are playing live with other players so tacitcs and timing are big factors to winning fights. The low rating is because of how slow the battled are and it gets very VERY repetitive. If you don't mind that then keep playing my friend.
DESIGN 4/5
Character customizations are my favorite features of this game. Every equipment you get in the game can be equipped and shown onto the character's 3d model and it makes your characters stand out a lot. You can look like a knight, mage, ninja, dancer and even a fashionista if you wanted to. The graphics are good enough for a general standpoint, but for a DQ game the graphics are pretty good for a mobile game staying true to its roots.
GACHA 3/5
Gacha rate are pretty average and there are times you will get more than 1 equipment of the highest rank, the good news is you will always be guaranteed 1 highest rank equipment in every multi-draw which is amazing. The down side is it takes a lot of ingame currency to do a multi pull and that means you need to over grind for gems if you are a f2p player.
CASH GRAB 4/5
I have mix feelings about this since if you really want the best equipment and complete sets then yes you have to spend money 100% of the time, but if you just wanna collect equipment you can get some rare ones from events eventhough they aren't that strong. Some banners have free multi pulls for one time use which if you are lucky then congrats. The cash grab is the only downside to the game that creates a large gap between f2p and p2p players.
OVERALL 3/5
Why the average rating? It is because the game as much as it is a nice idea for a DQ mobile game, it has passed it prime and is quite outdated in a sense. The japanese version came out years ago and it was only a year or so ago that the global version came out. It's a nice side game to play if you're in it for the DQ feels, but otherwise it is a hit or miss.
