Tokyo Afterschool Summoners Review(s)

otherwise it is amazing

Graphics: Chibi models for the characters, in my honest opinion, would have been better than just character tiles once the players get into the actual gameplay. Even simple chibis would have done it. Kinda like what Fire Emblem Heroes did. It's hard to draw, I know, I'm an artist as well. The actual character art is amazing and unconventional for visual novels and even I've seen my fair share of various art styles. I can say that this game's art is unique in its own right.
Sound: The music scores are great but repetitive. If it's to save up on data and in-game assets, I understand. It would be unique if the characters who have the Special Quests (Friendship/Love/Date/Event Quests, etc.) had their own themesong upon appearing or unleashing their 4* or 5* variants in the visual novel section of the game. However, I love that the game has a built-in BGM player and that you can listen to the amazing OSTs whenever!
Gameplay: I love strategy games though it's pretty repetitive at times especially if you play this a lot with a few breaks in-between.
Storyline: The story is good so far (I'm only on chapter 6). The only thing that really needs improvement is the translation. I could read a little Japanese, however, I suppose the extra stories are well-written too based on the Special Quests I've tried.
Value: Gameplay wise, I advice to just breeze through it and get to the visual novel parts. I'd say mostly the illustrations, music, and storyline are what kept me to keep this game (I'm still new and been playing since March or April 2020). I'll definitely be sticking around for the art since I need to practice drawing varied body types to improve as an artist. I already have some favorite illustrators from this game too!

Beside, it also include japanese, chinese and english in the language settings. Most of RPG I played has their own server and language, so it's not possible to change language in game. But this game can change the language by your own preference, except that some of the stories are not yet translated to English, so you might struggle with that one. Especially for date quest of course XD.
Others aspect like gacha summon, for me it's normal, like summon rate etc. For the gameplay, it is not that great but good.

Otherwise, I dont get why the devs think everyone wants to use 4g on mobile games. when, we have to download the assets anyway. I would much prefer a offline version of this game . so I can be assured my save data doesn't get lost on the cloud based system.
The forced online mode really does hurt the games experience when, on the go, the power goes out, or you get a new phone. I would really encourage the devs to make a offline build. Since, not everyone has wifi 24/7.
Tho the art style and story seems light hearted and great. From what little Japanese I know.

We're here because we fall under any or all of these:
- you're horny
- you're a furry
- you're addicted to gacha
Now that we've cleared the air, let's get into it.
Graphics: Unsurprisingly, the characters are the best visual aspect of the game. The UI and battle visuals are kinda sterile though. Like, they're fine, but again, that's not what you're here for.
Sound: What voice acting there is is decent. The music is nothing special though.
Gameplay: It's... there. Again, not really what you're here for, but it makes for fun, pseudo-puzzle tile combat. Not the most engaging thing, but powering up your crew is satisfying.
Storyline: I won't make any early calls on the main story since I haven't gotten far, but it seems to me that it's just a weird magical backdrop for all the goofy, sexy anime hijinks that the characters get into. Ex. "Gee whiz protag-kun, we can only stop the big sky demon from destroying Tokyo by making out!" But it can be a bit hard to follow the story or know which quests you need to do since the English translation for the game is... klunky. And some stuff isn't translated at all. That aside, there are side stories for each character after you've grown them enough wherein, in no uncertain terms, you marry and/or f*ck them. So at least the game delivers on its risque premise. You better be ready to WORK for it though, cuz the game does NOT make it easy.
Value: I haven't put any money into this (yet) (somehow), but there have been points where it feels like you kind of hit a wall. I've gotten carried by highly powerful helper units MULTIPLE times. At the end of the day, if you're just looking for a funny sexy romp (which... yeah, you are), this is a good game to go for.

The Storyline so far is great, bits and pieces connects together, plot twists, and all kinds stuff, it's fun to spend time reading all of it again (once translated), though the translation takes really long in my opinion, but hey that's alright.
The Gameplay is desent, you just need to plan strategically and it will turn out alright, the CS is kind of okay but I hope they could add something new to it, the parameters upgrades not that bad except the Sacred Artifact Level that is actually hard to upgrade.
The Gacha system is of course pretty normal for me, especially in event gachas where you could kind of somehow get that limited timed transients which I already found myself satisfied with it. Though this is my opinnion.
Once you somehow find yourself done with the main quest and stuck waiting for the translated/incoming storylines, the event quests helps you somehow keep occupied, why's that? Because theres a site where you could read either a fan or original translation of that kind of event, it also includes some of the "Special Events", and "Character Events", but there's no "Love Quests" translation atm yet.
The Sound Tracks are pretty good as well, it fits on majority of the storylines well.
The CG of each transients are really great, especially when you knew the artist who created it, and to be honest, there's a lot of lewd things and I kind of like it, like some of the furry transients. _(:3 」∠ )_
Things I look forward in this game is; new systems, more arts and characters (of course), thrilling storyline, abit of animation (if that's possible), and that person suggested on this review section about "the game having a naughty version" which I find very hillarious. :))
