Star Girl Fashion: CocoPPa Play Review(s)
3.5
So, this time, lemme review...Cocoppa Play!
Ive been playing since 2016 because Tinierme shut down and I want to play something just like it. I found Cocoppa and lost my first account(but is okay, I never had any decent faces there, anyway) and started anew. Now Im happy with my hard-earned fashion articles and Ill be danged if I lose this again(Thank you, data transfer).
I have a love-hate relationship in this game. If I didnt work so hard on a couple of sets I had, Id be trashing this game(no, not really).
Anyway, enough of the intro. On the review....
Graphics is superb! Lovely, lovely outfits! I use them in my art sometimes(will send photos of my avatars that I drew in my Notes). Though I notice the collab outfits are a little on the cheap side. And by cheap, I mean, their art quality isn't like that of the usual glossy, shiny and sparkly clothes Cocoppa has with their own clothes. It's more like a flat 2D art more than anything but that's just my observation.
Additionally, the graphics are a little too high quality, potato phones like mine are going to struggle with loading them all. Especially if you or someone you visit to cheer have moving backgrounds. Turn them off for better performance at the Settings.
Sound is annoying! Although it reminds me of my OJT days, the same time I started playing the game, it's annoying. There's a reason I played this game with the BGM settings off.
Gameplay is a bore and its exhausting. We all know events are good and all, but every week theres a new event? omg. I tried joining all the events before and it only stressed me out while my resources are depleting fast.
Anyway, my advice, play the events you only like and avoid the events you hate like the plague. You wont die if you miss an event or two. Use the rest time to finish Dailies for coins and tickets along with replenishing your resources.
Me? I dont like the Style Wars the most.
Like I mentioned about the graphics, Style Wars is the most annoying because you need to be redirected to the Event page to blast them to kingdom come. And if you have potato phone + potato internet expect for the event person to leave lol.
Storyline, I always skip this one cause, again, big graphics + potato phone, not good combo. Hence I skip it. Therefore I cant make judgment about it.
Value is abominable! This game is expensive! Expensive I tell you. A lot of money for a few measly coins? No thanks. Im already a poor boi.
Thankfully, their generosity has improved through the years. Both the currency earning and the gacha rates, all good now. Before, I never got a face after a year of playing, when I returned, I now have more faces I dunno what to wear now.
It all just depends on your luck this time and hope you get lucky all the way!
P.S. Despite me dissing this game, I like it. Hence the reason why I keep it all these years lol.

Also, they have this thing where they pick a "family"... They say they pick based on how much you play the game, BUT I have had two of my club members who were picked who barely play at all but they put in A LOT of money... I play on average 4-9 hours a night ( participating in events only to rank around 700-900 towards the end of them ) and have applied to be in this "family" & they have not chosen me. So clearly, how much money you give them is more of a factor than how much you play the game.
Also, I have played this game for over a year now, and log in every day. There have been times I play this game for 14+ hours a day & I still have not earned/gotten a moving pose for my model & I am a subscriber.
This game is HIGHLY based on addiction & having a lot of money to waste. A LOT of money.

To new players who want to try this game: Don't. If you are into pay a ton to win then be my guest, if you are a f2p or casual spender in games, this game is a huge no for you.
TL:DR -- this game (still)have old unfixed bugs even after me playing it for about 2 years, somewhat laggy transitions, very unbalanced rewards for events, outdated systems and gradual decline of the costume designs for premium gachas. Unless you are a fan of constant grinding for events with little to no breaks in between or is a constant heavy spender in games, this is not a very enjoyable game imo.
!Long review up ahead where I rant more about the abovementioned problems!
Bugs and lags: It happens regularly for me during plays, stuff like can't exit certain pages, the menu bar below is gone for some reason, cheered/gave heart for someone yet it didnt show or didnt give out rewards, the cheer/heart button disappeared, the game closes itself for some reason etc. The previous mentioned bugs are all bugs that are here since I have started playing it about 2 years ago and it still exist to this day and the devs never bothered to fix it. (I mean it's kinda alarming when the game have a separate page for apology lmao)
Events: The events are mostly okay except for snap contests, snap contests with their coin gacha themes just suck big time for f2p players because we dont have enough coins (the premium currency in this game) or dont want to waste our hard earned coins in an ugly gacha. Without the extra points for the trending clothings, the event points will be very low for that day. This is one of the few games I have played with that high frequency of events, it doesn't give much break time for people to save up tickets or money, it just go straight into another event the next day

Event rewards/some apology rewards: Unless you are the top 700(if I remember correctly), the rewards you would mostly get are like 1 premium ticket and energy drinks-- To obtain higher event points you need to pull the gacha, and you need tickets for the gachas, so unless you skip a few events and save up tickets (even so you can't really save up that much tbh) you're likely not going to get a good ranking. Well some people could argue that they can get a good ranking by grinding the game, and yeah technically you could, if you spend like your whole day in this one game every day until the event ends lmao (also granted if you have enough energy drinks and items to last that long)
The problem is there are so many players and the rewards for these low ranking players are so useless and discouraging, even if you put a lot of time into grinding, you're not guaranteed to get a higher ranking, and you have to be at least in top 700s to get anything good. Yeah it's good to have energy drinks, if they can actually use it effectively:/ without a decent charm point, even if you keep drinking those energy drinks and keep cheering, it's not gonna get you a high ranking:/
Outdated system: How is the messaging system still so wonky after all these years?? The keyboard just completely blocks what you're typing so if you gotta lower the keyboard to read what you typed and if you got a typo, you gotta press that part precisely to bring up the keyboard and keep typing blinded
Also, why cant we receive notifications when someone replied our comment on their comment board?? It's so hard to hold a convo because no one was notified rip-- we have to go check that person's board to know they have replied to us like what??? Gacha: There are three main types of gachas for usual players (excluding vip gachas) Normal, Premium and Coin gachas. Premium gacha is the most common one players pull for using tickets (you can buy 2 ticket every day through shop), events would require players to pull a certain/several gachas for better points. Coin gachas are the premium currency gachas so not many players can afford to pull constantly (mostly only the first free pull and the discounted second pull) The problem is that the ratio of premium and coin gachas is getting more and more unbalanced, as of the current version, 3/4 gachas are coin gachas in the gacha page. Not only that, but also the designs for the premium gachas are getting worse every time. So basically what the devs are saying: "No f2p or casual spenders allowed" Micro-transaction elements are expected in games, companies gotta make profit I get it. But the fact that they are so blantantly thirsting for money just annoys me a lot, you're expecting players to pay you thousands of money each months for minimal benefits, what the hell? I dont mind spending some money on games I like but this game is just too much.
