I've never played the first game in the series, so I'm not sure how much has changed. But as a newcomer to the series, this game is a fun time. It's like an action RPG, where you go into battles with a team, but you only control one character. And each character has their own moveset and abilities set to a cooldown timer. The main draw is that there are fairies you can collect that will help you in combat and do background tasks that earn you items.
I didn't like how many in-game purchases there are though. If you try to go for your daily login bonuses or bonus rewards, there's like 6 or 7 sets of rewards that you can buy mixed in. They're not necessary to progress, but it's annoying that they get in the way.
