the game is toxic for people who don't want to adapt to the environment
and the meta keep devolving to the point where you can die to 1 card
But Shadowverse has this interesting design where Pressuring your opponent doesnt punish you becauss theres no instance of trap card in the game and boardwipe is consider bad unless it does something else
which you dont see in general on other cardgame
now to the main question
is the game f2p?
yes but you need to commit to it by starting in Unlimited
currently theres a deck that compete with "artifact" that only use 3 legendary of the newest set from there you can go try to get top 10k for 10 pack each month (top 10k is really easy once you get to master).
and then theres the anniversary thats gonna come in a few month
they gave us like 140 pack and a chance to win 1000 pack worth of coin each day or like most of us probably 1-10 pack only (theres 3 people in the global that won the rupies, 2 in discord 1 in reddit)
in general without those freebies a constant player always have 400-600 pack to open every 3 month (me included)
Next is the game worth
its definetly more harmless than duel link but dont go overboard with the game.
theres also the fact its backed up by cygame also kinda reassuring continuity unlike zenonzard
and a lot of anime waifu skins to pull from packs
kinda hard to say for the husbando hunter tho
story wise it has it up and down
but the voice acting is preety good (especially if youre a zhong li fan)
Should you start now?
meh you always get 50 pack of the newest set either way
but go visit the discord for shadowverse if you need guidance
we have global "champs" helping people to get started on the game
in the end its just a cardgame
that you can just laugh at because how stupid the meta is
or when you're lucky or not and start saying weird stuff like a yugioh player
